Happy New Year to everyone in Brooklyn! We are looking forward to another growing season and in preparation we will be signing up members for our upcoming season starting on January 30th.

We are knee deep in preparations, organizing everything, and trying to get ready for a super year. The best way to keep in touch with us is through the Southside CSA Facebook Page. Everything is always posted there. However, if you are a facebook abstainer, sign up for our mailing list. We are infrequesnt emailers but you will get notified of any events, esp during sign-up time.

Sign ups for returning members are on Jan 30th, Feb 6th, & Feb 20th.

Sign ups for new members starts March 5th.

Greig Farm Share. Best Berries Ever! Aug 11, 2011

We are in the process of updating our blog, www.southsidecsa.org. Right now, all the info is from 2011. Stay tuned as it is updated. More info regarding this year’s sign will be available shortly. Bring your questions about Southside CSA, our farmers–MimoMex Farm, Greig Farm, Circle C Farm, & Northwind Farm, and how our farm shares operate to the following open house [question-n-answer] events:

Greenpoint Soup Kitchen Supper Club Fundraiser

Come dine with us!

Even as we are reveling in the bounty of summer—and we are, thanks to weekly donations from the generous Garden of Eve, Southside CSA, & Paisley Farm CSAs—we begin to plan for our leaner winter months.

Through a series of supper club fundraisers, we are able to provide fresh (local and organic when possible) vegetables for our Wednesday night soup kitchen dinners all through the year. We feel strongly that nutritious, locally produced food should not be a luxury item, but available to everyone in our community.

Come join us for our next Greenpoint Soup Kitchen Supper Club Fundraiser

Friday, 22 July!
630-930pm

Dinner will be a four-course vegetarian meal using the same great local, organic produce that we use in our Wednesday night meal. The dinner is served family style—which we hope adds to the convivial spirit of the event! BYO wine and come early for a special (extra charge) cocktail hour.

Because our menu relies on the most seasonal produce from local farmers, please stay tuned for the exact details of the meal—but a pickle plate is already in the works!

Suggested donation–$20. [btw, we know that this meal is worth WAY more than $20, however, we like creating an affordable night out that almost everyone can afford. Feel free to throw down more cash if you desire!]

You must R.S.V.P. for this event—if possible please do so through the event page on Facebook.  If you are a stubborn abstainer (!) from Facebook, you may email annefay@gmail.com. Seats are limited, so please inform us if your plans change!

Join us for some tasty homebrew by Broken Stove

Join us on Sunday June 10th from 3pm until 8pm as we toast some tasty homebrew and celebrate the conclusion of our inaugural run of the Broken Stove Beer. Have no fear, beer share will return in the Fall; stay tuned for details and sign up information. Members of the beer share will be picking up their six-packs. Friends  can join in the fun. James has a keg on tap with glasses for $4. He also brings “extras” to sell as well. The first 24 people to buy a beer will get a fancy commemorative Broken Stove beer glass to keep. We will have a potluck spread of pickles and jams going and will probably bust out the grill. Come join us in the garden for a beer!

Yolim's Berry Pie & American Apple Pie. July 4th, 2010

Sunday is National Pie Day, a holiday we have been celebrating in our house for a few years now. I run with a food-loving crowd and have had the pleasure of attending some amazing pie day parties and potlucks. This year we are taking it to a new level — entering the Fourth Annual Brooklyn Pie Contest. Our pie mania is getting competitive… Continue reading

Field Trip to MimoMex Farm. Oct 24, 2010

Southside CSA gathers at MimoMex Farm

On one of the last weekends in October we rallied to Goshen, NY to check out MimoMex Farm and hang with Martin, Gaudencia, & the whole Rodriguez clan. One of the best reasons to be in a CSA is this direct relationship you can have with the land that produces the food that nourishes your body. Seeing the farm and digging in the dirt always heightens that connection…
