Week #9 – Aug 9 [A week]

Another hot week in NYC; another amazing distribution filled with fabulous MimoMex produce and gorgeous Greig Farm berries. The lack of rain has done a bit of damage to the bountiful Blackberry harvest that our early Spring had promised. C’est la vie on the farm, eh! This week there was no taco stand which had a lot of us pairing our drinks with our plums, berries, & eggplant!Veggie Share

  • 2 lbs. New Potatoes
  • 2 Eggplant
  • 2 Bell Peppers
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1 head of Cabbage
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • 1 bunch Sage
  • 1 bunch Papalo
  • 1 bunch Kale

It was so cool to see tomatoes; last year the blight hit MimoMex pretty hard, causing all the tomatoes to fall off when green & unripe. Cheers to a blight free year!

Orchard Share

  • 1 lb. Sugar Plums
  • 1 lb. Italian Plums
  • 1 lb. White Nectarine
  • 1 lb. Pear

Martin sends his apologies regarding the soft plums. Our farmers purchase the fruit from a neighboring farm and in general it is a relationship that benefits us all. Martin was not stoked about the ripeness factor of the plums and is working hard to make sure that it doesn’t happen again (although, with this heat it is sometimes unavoidable…). Of course, super ripe plums are quite nice for making jams and sauces. Check out last years post on how to rock some great stuff with the soft fruit…

Egg

  • 1 dozen pastured eggs from MimoMex’s gorgeous & happy flock

Berry

  • We divided the Berries into equal shares of Blueberries w/ either Blackberries or Raspberries.
