Week #12 was another hot one. But despite the sticky heat, hints of Fall were everywhere from the first bits of the Raspberry & Spinach harvests to Martin’s report of ripe pumpkins on the farm.

Of course, despite those hints that the season is changing, Summer’s bounty is still in full effect…

As the country continues to wonder about the safety of the eggs they are buying and eating, it is fantastic to be a part of the food system that is profitable to both the producer, consumer, & animal. Be sure to sign up for our Winter Share of MimoMex Eggs and ensure a season of good eats!
Greig Farm Berry Share
One of the best things about volunteering at distribution (if you get there on the super-early side…) is being able to talk story with the farmers about all things farm related. Last week Norman explained to me the logistics of the Summer & Fall Raspberry harvests.
Pretty cool to wrap my head around how this crop actually runs and get a better understanding of the ebb & flow of our raspberry harvest. The berries we are seeing now are from the new shoots that developed this Spring while the raspberries from earlier in the season are from the older stalks that weathered the Winter, budding & fruiting much earlier than the new growth. Plan to join the group trip to Grieg Farm to learn more about our local Berry harvest.
