Week #13 – July 25th [Aweek] & Week #14 – Aug 1st [Bweek]

It has been a busy busy Summer here at Southside CSA headquarters. Camping trips, supper clubs, art projects, working on Taste Williamsburg, visiting guests, and bbq’s have kept us from timely updates. Lo siento! Hope you have been having fun cooking up all that fab produce and enjoying the start of the orchard share. As always the shares have been super-fab; ain’t nothing better than fresh, local produce hand-picked by farmers who work night and day to ensure that the food we put into our bodies is healthy and natural. July 25th MimoMex Veg Share

  • 1 bunch Scallions
  • 1 head Cabbage
  • 1.5 lbs Summer Squash
  • 1.5 lbs Potatoes
  • 1 head Red Leaf lettuce
  • 1 bunch Spinach
  • 2 Leeks
  • 4 ears of Sweet Corn
  • 1 bunch Mint
  • Choice of 1 bunch Papalo or Pipicha

Aug 1st MimoMex Veg Share

  • 1.5 lbs Summer Squash
  • 1.5 lbs White Onion
  • 4 ears Sweet Corn
  • 2 Leeks
  • 1 bunch Radish
  • 1 bunch Swiss Chard
  • 1 head Romaine Lettuce
  • 1 bunch Mint
  • 1 bunch Cilantro
  • Choice of 1 bunch Papalo or Pipicha

July 25th Greig Farm Berry Share

Choice of 1:

  • 2/3 bucket (approx 4lbs) of Blueberries & 1/2 pint of Blackberries
  • 3/4 bucket (approx 5lbs) of Blueberries

Aug 1st Greig Farm Berry Share

  • 1 qt Blueberries & 1/2 pint Blackberries

July 25th NY Orchard Share

  • 1 lb Nectarines
  • 1 lb White Peaches
  • 2 lb Sugarplums

Aug 1st NY Orchard Share

  • 2 lbs Nectarines
  • 2 lbs Sugarplums

July 25th & Aug 1st MimoMex Egg Shares

  • 1 dozen farm fresh Eggs

July 25th Northwind Farms Meat Share

  • 1 Boneless Rump
  • 1 package Ground Chorizo
  • 1 package of Chicken Legs
  • 1 package of Hot Italian Sausage

Aug 1st Northwind Farms Meat Share

  • 1 package Sweet Italian Sausage
  • 1 Belle Rouge Whole Chicken
  • 1 package of Hamburger Meat

At the end of these distributions several members gleaned off some produce in order to make side dishes for the Greenpoint Soup Kitchen’s weekly meal. We then donated the rest of the “leftovers” to the Southside Mission Food Pantry. Thanks to all of this week’s volunteers for helping out, cooking up a storm, and driving over the produce.
