Have you always wanted to be a part of a CSA, getting weekly doses of the best local produce around and supporting small NY farmers, ensuring that you are cooking with the highest quality of ingredients? Well, good news because there is still time to sign up for the upcoming harvest season and join up with one of the best CSAs around town. Southside CSA — which distributes weekly on Monday nights in the backyard of The Woods (S4th btwn Kent & Wythe in the shadow of the old Domino factory) — still has room for the upcoming season.

The 2013 Harvest season starts out with a bang of egg, meat & spring asparagus goodness at the end of April with the commencement of our Greig Farm Share (aka the berry share), Feather Ridge Farm Egg & Chicken Shares & Northwind Farm Meat Shares. The Vegetable Share starts mid June, followed by NY Orchard Share at the start of July. Berries, eggs, and meat all end after 24 weeks in mid October with the Vegetables and Orchard shares rolling on until Thanksgiving.
In order to make things easier for us volunteer organizers, our shares are organized up into packages. This ensures that we sell enough for our farmers and don’t drive ourselves crazy with accounting and whatnot. We offer a variety of combos, half shares, and full shares ensuring that there is something for every household and all types of cookers from the vegan chef to the guy who just likes to bake pie.
So, you want to sign up….

This $$ goes to pay for web hosting, PO box, bank account fees, scales and other needed distribution equipment, paper and printing costs for receipts. In order to accommodate everyone we have extended payment plans. There is a sliding scale that goes along with each balance due date.

See volunteer tab above for more information. Lots of fun & easy stuff that helps us keep this volunteer project sustainable.
In addition to our regular shares, we have some top-notch additional items. Check out our Meat Share, Whole Chicken Share, & Maple Share. Lots of options to eat great local meat. And ain’t nothing better to sweeten up a house like a jug of local maple!!
