Blood & Thunder (aka Mary, Hashem and Xochi – and sometimes more friends)

We are a household of two (plus a dog). We have signed up for the Full Greig (Berry) Share, Full Egg, ½ Veggie and ½ Meat Shares.

Here are the meals from my week that I used CSA share stuff:
Monday: Roasted Duck (from the winter meat share): Recipe — The Best Way to Roast a Duck – Hello Crispy Skin!
No photo of duck (what???) Here’s the table with the Duck modestly covered for warmth.

This night we had friends invite us out to M Shanghai, and although I had roasted this duck, it’s small, so we also ordered some M Shanghai dishes to go and I prepared some asparagus by pan toasting sesame seeds, adding asparagus and a table spoon of water and soy sauce. Our stomachs were overfull that night.
Wednesday: Scrambled eggs for breakfast (no photo)
We also did our Soup Kitchen volunteer hours at Greenpoint Reformed Church. We washed dishes, weeded the veggie garden and listened to their neighbor tell tales of his recent irrigation system installation. Really fun!
Thursday: Frozen blueberries went into some oatmeal (no photo). I made a pot roast with asparagus side and a half sesame loaf from Marlow and Daughters.
I thawed the rump roast only on the outside so that I could brown it. Put it in a Ziploc bag and immersed it into some water for a bit.
Then I followed this recipe that I like reading:
It has a lot of expressive copy, which I enjoy, but isn’t the most efficient way to transmit information. Good thing this is a slow cook!
