Group Bike Ride. Sunday July 25, 2010.

Meet @ 9am in front of The Woods, 48 South 4th Street, Williamsburg.

We will leave the Woods @ 9:15, riding to the Downtown Brooklyn waterfront, catching the first ferry to the island at 10 am from the Pier 6/Atlantic Avenue ferry station. Its free!

Picnic Point

Join in a 12 mile round trip bike ride from our weekly meet-up location, the Woods, to car-free Governors Island. On the island we’ll picnic, lounge on hammocks, enjoy waterfront views and a two mile bike loop. Please bring something to share with others for a potluck picnic.

Our ride will primarily be on separated off street bike paths so families and children are welcome! If you would love to join us but don’t have a bike of your own you can meet us at the ferry and there are bicycle rentals available for use on the island.

Rental Bikes. $15 for 2 hours.

Be sure to bring plenty of water and a tire patch kit if you have one.

In the morning there will be a tour for the CSA of the new three acre urban farm on the island. Added Value’s sustainable farm provides fresh produce to the Red Hook community through farmer’s markets and a CSA. Their educational and farmer training programs have helped local youth learn valuable urban farming skills and entrepreneurship. This summer Added Value will also be providing fresh produce on Governors Island through their farm stand. More info: http://www.added-value.org/
