Greig Farm Share: another wise known as THE BERRY SHARE. While the mass of this share is in strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries, this 24 week long share also includes asparagus, peas, plums, pumpkins & apples

2018 will be our 9th season working with Greig Farm. We love Norm and think his share is one of the best CSA offerings in NYC. Greig Farm offers some of the freshest produce possible, delivering a weekly share of crops picked in the morning and delivered to Southside CSA members by sunset. Norman brings us our berries with the sun still on them! Talk about healthy sustainable living! ANd we haven’t even talked about the fact that nothing has ever been sprayed. TOTAL NO-SPRAY farm!!

Of course, it must be noted that weather, like heavy rains, cold snaps and heatwaves, can delay or cancel weekly shares. This share is very different than our other shares because it truly reflects the weekly season- Norm does not guarantee a balance between weeks, instead bringing in whatever can be picked each week, therefore the half shares can be unbalanced between weeks. We offer half shares but do not recommend them per se, however, we understand that some people prefer this type of split.

Thanks to his asparagus crop, the share starts early, in the first week of May. Asparagus can be harvested for a month. The share then swaps to strawberries and peas — both the English and Snap variety — in June followed by the blueberry harvest which starts in July. And plums! August sees the addition of blackberries to the weekly share and Fall brings our state favorite, apples. Norm grows some of the best varieties of apples around. If we are lucky, we also get some pumpkins & gourds!!

(Please note; there are pics of raspberries below. Unfortunately, Norm lost his raspberry plants to a fungal disease. He no longer grows raspberries. He did plant an orchard. And now we have plums….)
