Pot au Feu demo by Mathieu & Alyssa Palombino

One fine September evening, Brooklyn Kitchen Labs opened their doors to our members, Alyssa & Mathieu Palambino, so that they could teach us Southsiders how to make the French classic, Pot au Feu. It was a spectacular night full of fun French cooking facts, delicious wine, and great people. Big props to Alyssa for organizing this great community event!

Field trip to Greig Farm. Sept 26, 2010

pick-your-own raspberries @ Greig Farm

At the tail end of the raspberry season, a bunch of us piled into cars and drove north to check out where our berries comes from. Greig Farm is located in Red Hook, NY, which is part of Duchess County, just East of the Hudson River. We had about 4 cars full of members making the trek from Brooklyn through the gorgeous fall foliage of the Hudson Valley to see the land, pick raspberries & apples & pumpkins, and to hear more about Greig Farm.

Winter Break

pic by Matt Champlin @ flickr.com

Hola southsiders. Hope you are enjoying lots of fun tromping through the snow (cuz who knows when S3rd will get plowed…)

We -the 3 organizers, Yolim, Esther & Ryan- took a break after our last distribution of the 2010 Harvest season to catch our breath, relax, celebrate the holidays, cook up our seasonal faves, and get ready for the new year. Running this thing takes a lot of volunteer time and energy and we needed the 2 months off to concentrate on ourselves.

That being said, we had a great first Winter distribution and have really missed our Mondays together. What good times! Our goal is to get the blog updated this week with posts about all the fun events from the Fall.

Check back for more info about the 2011 Harvest season; Sign-ups for returning members will start in January & in March for new members.
